Uploading Files ⬆️
Q: Is there a limit to how many files I can upload at once?
A: You can upload up to 5 files at a time.
Q: Are there file size limits for uploads?
A: Yes, each file must be 25MB or smaller.
Q: What file types can I upload?
A: You can upload the following formats:
PDF
DOCX
PNG / JPG
CSV
Excel (.xlsx)
PowerPoint (.pptx)
TXT
Q: How long are my uploaded files available?
A: Uploaded files are available for up to 48 hours within the conversation where they were added.
Q: Do uploaded files stay attached to a specific chat?
A: Yes. Files are tied to the specific conversation where they were uploaded. They remain accessible in that chat for up to 48 hours. After that, they will show as “expired”. You can re-upload the file at any time to continue using it.
Q: What does “File Expired” mean?
A: “File Expired” means the file is no longer available for use after the 48-hour window.
You’ll still see it referenced in past responses, but you’ll need to re-upload it to use it again.
Q: Can I ask heyC questions about specific sections of my document?
A: Yes. You can ask questions about specific parts of your document, and heyC will use the uploaded file to provide relevant responses.
Q: Are my uploaded files secure?
A: Yes. Uploaded files are secure and private to you, and handled in accordance with heyC’s standard data privacy and security practices.
Q: Can I upload documents that include student names?
A: Student first name and last initial is fine. However, just like our other chats, the system will recommend an alternative approach if full student names are submitted for PII security reasons.
Downloading & Exporting ⬇️
Q: What formats are available for download?
A: You can download content in the following formats:
PDF
Word (.docx)
Excel (.xlsx)
PowerPoint (.pptx)

Q: Can I export content to Google tools?
A: Yes. You can export directly to:
Google Docs
Google Slides
Google Forms
A Google login is required the first time, after which exports will open automatically in your selected format.
Q: What will my downloaded or exported content look like?
A: The content will closely match the format of your heyC response. We recommend reviewing and adjusting formatting or file names as needed after export.
Q: Where do downloaded or exported files go?
A: Downloaded files go to your device’s Downloads folder. Exported files are saved to your Google Drive.
Q: Can I edit downloaded or exported files?
A: Yes. Files can be edited using the appropriate tools, such as:
Word for .docx files
Excel for .xlsx files
Google Docs/Slides for exported files
Q: What should I do if a file won’t open?
A: If that happens, you should try the following:
Confirm your device supports the file type
Re-download the file
Try a different format (e.g., PDF instead of Word)
Check if the issue is specific to one format or all downloads
Q: Will I be notified before a file expires?
A: Not currently. However, expired files will be clearly labeled as “expired” in the conversation.
